About the Role

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Financial Services team and play a key role in the development and optimisation of Health New Zealand's Corporate Data Platform. This is a great opportunity to work on data solutions that support better access to trusted information and enable informed decision-making across the organisation. You'll be responsible for designing and delivering data pipelines and information products, working across data ingestion, transformation and presentation. You'll use technologies including Snowflake, dbt, AWS and GitHub, alongside a range of scripting and data engineering tools, to bring together data from diverse sources and develop robust, secure and scalable solutions. You'll also contribute to data engineering standards, explore new technologies and provide specialist input into governance and architecture discussions.

About you

You are an analytical and solutions-focused Data Engineer who enjoys working with complex data environments and finding better ways to connect, transform and present information. You will bring: proven experience developing and maintaining data platform services, ideally within a cloud environment, with a strong understanding of reliability, availability, security and performance. Hands-on experience with databases and software development, including languages such as SQL, Python, Bash or PowerShell. Strong knowledge of data architectures and technologies including data warehousing, data lakes/lakehouses, data integration, data modelling and ETL/ELT. Experience with data engineering and governance tools such as dbt, Snowflake, GitHub, AWS and Alation is highly desirable. You'll also be a strong communicator who can work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, build trusted relationships and bring a curious, collaborative and continuous improvement mindset to your work.
