About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Progressive Care Unit License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS Must-Have: Experience with telemetry monitoring Familiarity with Epic documentation system Willingness to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity Description: Provide care to patients within the Progressive Care Unit. Maintain a patient ratio of approximately 1 nurse to 5 patients. Utilize skills in IV starts and telemetry monitoring. Experience with accessing and managing ports is preferred. Involvement in blood product administration and central line care. Manage continuous bladder irrigation and feeding tube care. Interpret dysrhythmias and manage IV insulin protocols. Provide care for liver and pancreas transplant patients. Monitor and manage renal failure and assist in hemodialysis pre/post management. Starting and maintaining IVs is required. Telemetry skills are necessary for this position. Travelers will not be expected to care for ICU level patients. Only PCU responsibilities will apply to this role. Interdisciplinary support includes various therapy and services. Patients will range from those with kidney transplants to those with infections and uncontrolled diabetes. Special equipment utilized in this unit includes telemetry and bladder scanners. Candidates must be responsive and cooperative with credentialing processes.
