Maintenance Mechanic I

Job Summary

​Provides general carpentry and painting to maintain, repair and renovate the physical structure. Provides basic HVAC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing services to efficiently operate facilities and equipment. Tests, monitors and operates equipment/chemicals for water supply. Removes snow using various types of equipment. Provides assistance to maintain grounds, as required.

Job Duties

• Performs general carpentry in support of alterations and renovations.

• Performs masonry tasks when necessary.

• Installs dry wall, floor and ceiling systems.

• Prepares all surfaces with joint compound, caulking and sanding.

• Removes hardware and other items.

• Places masking tape and drop cloths to protect surfaces.

• Sets up scaffold and ladders for safe usage.

• Applies paints, stains and varnishes to various surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray guns.

• Returns finished area to working order.

• Uses and maintains equipment for snow removal.

• Equipment may include truck-mounted snow plow, tractor-mounted snow plow, snow throwers, shovels, brooms, etc.

• Checks fluid levels.

• Performs minor equipment repairs when necessary.

• Performs preventive maintenance and equipment checks, including: fire extinguishers, air filter cleaning and changes, belt

• changes and lubrication of rotating equipment.

• Repairs a variety of mechanical, plumbing, electrical equipment and general building components.

• Installs, maintains and repairs plumbing fixtures, domestic water piping and equipment, and steam piping and distribution

• equipment including valves and radiators Installs, maintains and repairs sanitary drains, sewers, holding tanks and sewage

• pumps.

• Installs, maintains and repairs electrical conduits, raceways, wires and cables and circuit breakers for the supply of electrical

• power.

• Runs computer and other non-protected cables.

• Replaces light bulbs and lamps as required.

• Repairs a variety of mechanical, plumbing, electrical equipment and general building components. ​

​​Work is typically performed in a warehouse/maintenance or office environment; may require performance of work within clinical areas. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Frequently required to reach above head, bend, push, pull, stoop and kneel. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. Join our Facilities team as a Maintenance Mechanic I and put your hands‑on skills to work supporting repairs, renovations, and essential building systems at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

This role requires flexibility in scheduling and operates on a rotating shift basis. Scheduled hours may change to meet staffing levels and the evolving operational needs of the facility.

From repairs to snow removal to building system support, this role is essential to creating a safe and dependable environment for patients and staff.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required)

Experience

Minimum of 3 years-Skilled labor (Required)
