IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC)

DutiesManages risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk) and cybersecurity and privacy principles used to manage risks related to the use, processing, storage, and transmission of information or data and the cybersecurity and privacy principles and organizational requirements (relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation).Serves as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.Works in the ACF Risk Management Branch, Vulnerability Management Section to ensure all cybersecurity personnel provide the appropriate treatment of risk, compliance, and monitoring assurance from both internal and external perspectives.Develops and interprets policies, processes and related standards including Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) in accordance with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the DHHS, and ACF applicable Federal government requirements, guidance, and directives.Leads the dissemination of advisories to system owners and the Assessment and Authorization team and provides vulnerability information dissemination sources (e.g., alerts, advisories, errata, and bulletins).Leads/conducts studies designed to identify potential improvements in the way IT is applied to key business functions applying business process engineering concepts and methods.Requirements Conditions of EmploymentU.S. Citizenship requiredRegistered or exempt from Selective Service ( not previously completed, a background security investigation will be required for all appointees. ORGS-13: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing (3) of the (4) duties listed below: Developing, implementing, and/or administering an IT vulnerability and cybersecurity program;Developing security procedures governing the planning or delivery of services throughout an organization;Coordinating and/or collaborating on security activities related to cyber threats and vulnerabilities; andDocumenting and initiating responses to security problems.Documenting Experience: IN DESCRIBING YOUR EXPERIENCE, PLEASE BE CLEAR AND SPECIFIC. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
