EY’s Life Sciences Risk Consulting team supports biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, and medical technology organizations as they modernize laboratory and quality operations while managing regulatory risk and accelerating business performance.The opportunityAs a Manager within EY’s Life Sciences Transformation practice, you will play a critical role in delivering laboratory transformation initiatives for Life Sciences clients across R&D, quality control, and manufacturing environments. You will focus on helping clients modernize laboratory operations through digital enablement, operating model redesign, and system implementations, while ensuring solutions are fit for purpose in regulated environments.You will work as part of integrated engagement teams, leading discrete workstreams and serving as a key day‑to‑day client contact. This role is laboratory‑first, with quality, regulatory, and validation considerations embedded to enable compliant, scalable, and sustainable lab operations rather than serving as the primary focus.Key areas of emphasis include digital laboratory modernization, LIMS and laboratory platform implementations, laboratory process and operating model design, and integration of lab data and systems across the product lifecycle.Your key responsibilitiesAs a Manager, you will be responsible for workstream leadership, delivery execution, and team management, including:Leading laboratory transformation workstreams, including digital lab modernization initiatives, LIMS implementations, and laboratory operating model and process redesign across R&D, QC, and manufacturing labsTranslating client objectives into detailed delivery plans, requirements, and execution roadmaps focused on laboratory operations and technology enablementManaging day‑to‑day delivery across lab-focused workstreams, ensuring timelines, scope, and quality expectations are metIntegrating quality, regulatory, and computer systems validation considerations into laboratory solutions in partnership with SMEs, ensuring solutions are compliant without over‑engineeringServing as a primary client contact at the manager and director level, facilitating working sessions, status updates, and issue resolutionLeading and coaching consultants and senior consultants, providing direction, feedback, and development supportSupporting business development and account activities, including proposal development, client presentations, and contribution to laboratory transformation offerings and assetsSkills and attributes for successProven experience leading laboratory-focused transformation workstreams in Life Sciences environmentsStrong understanding of laboratory operations, lab workflows, and digital lab technologies (e.g., LIMS, LES, ELN, lab data platforms)Working knowledge of quality, regulatory, and validation requirements as they apply to laboratory systems and processesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to bridge lab, IT, and business stakeholdersExperience managing delivery risk, dependencies, and trade-offs within complex programsAbility to balance innovation, usability, and compliance in GxP-regulated laboratory environmentsCommitment to developing junior team members and contributing to a collaborative team cultureCuriosity and interest in emerging laboratory technologies and trends within Life SciencesTo qualify for the role, you must haveA bachelor’s or master’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field5+ years of Life Sciences experience, with a strong emphasis on laboratory operations, lab systems, or lab transformation initiatives3+ years of experience leading project workstreams or components of larger programs in consulting or industryHands-on experience with laboratory systems (e.g., LIMS, ELN, LES) and/or lab data and integration platformsFoundational knowledge of computer systems validation, data integrity, and regulatory expectations for laboratory environmentsIdeally, you’ll also haveExperience supporting global Life Sciences organizations across R&D, QC, or manufacturing laboratoriesExposure to proposal development, internal asset creation, or offering development related to laboratory transformationExperience mentoring consultants or senior consultantsWillingness to travel up to 40%, based on client needsWhat we look forWe’re looking for senior leaders who can help Life Sciences organizations modernize laboratories, strengthen quality capabilities, and navigate regulatory complexity—all while enabling innovation and measurable business value. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $114,800 to $210,600. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $137,900 to $239,300. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.
