JOB SUMMARY

Spherion Staffing is accepting applications for an experienced Hydraulic Systems Maintenance Technician with hydraulic systems expertise to keep aluminum extrusion presses and support equipment running at peak performance for a production facility in Megargel, TX. This role is built for a hands-on troubleshooter who knows presses inside and out - someone who can read a hydraulic schematic and who understands the impact of downtime to the operation. Work schedule is 1st shift Monday - Friday 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with hours varying depending on customer demand and mandatory Saturday overtime when scheduled. Pay is $30.00.hr.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Diagnose, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems on aluminum extrusion presses, including pumps, valves, cylinders, accumulators, servo/proportional valves, and high-pressure lines.

- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on extrusion presses, billet heaters, die ovens, run-out tables, stretchers, saws, and related equipment to minimize unplanned downtime.

- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults using schematics, manuals, and diagnostic tools; drive root-cause analysis on recurring failures.

- Rebuild and calibrate hydraulic pumps, cylinders, and valve assemblies; maintain proper fluid cleanliness, filtration, and system pressure specs.

- Respond quickly to press-down and line-down calls, working safely under time pressure to restore production.

- Read and interpret hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical schematics/blueprints to support repairs and equipment upgrades.

- Support installation, alignment, and startup of new or rebuilt equipment.

- Partner with production teams to improve equipment reliability and extrusion press uptime.

- Follow all plant safety, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and environmental procedures without exception.

SKILLS

- Forklift and/or overhead crane certification a plus.

- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under pressure during downtime events.

- Willingness to work overtime

- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade school certification in industrial maintenance or hydraulics a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience with a concentration in hydraulic systems; aluminum extrusion or heavy press experience preferred.

- Solid working knowledge of high-pressure hydraulic circuits, pumps, valves, and cylinders, plus proficiency in basic mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting.

- Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics and technical manuals.

- Experience with press-related equipment such as extrusion presses, stretchers, saws, handling systems, ovens, or similar heavy industrial machinery.

- Comfortable with the use of precision tools, hand and power tools, and standard diagnostic equipment (pressure gauges, multimeters, etc.).
