Overview:

The Manual Saw Operator is responsible for operating and tending manual saws to cut raw material (various metals), trimming edges, removing defects, and/or cutting grooves, bevel, and miter to specified dimensions or work orders by reading and interpreting manufacturers drawings (blueprints). 

Key Responsibilities: (include but not limited to): Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

• Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Pay close attention to detail, initiative-taking, coachable, able to interpret and read manufacturers drawings (blueprints).
• Being able to work with and handling raw tubing, sheet metal, and other various metals.
• Operate manual band saws and cold saws to cut raw metal materials (aluminum, steel, stainless steel) to specified dimensions according to production needs
• Interpret work orders, cut lists, and basic blueprints to perform accurate and efficient cuts
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of saw equipment to ensure proper operation and safety
• Use forklifts to transport raw materials and cut parts throughout the shop in a safe and organized manner
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area while following shop safety standards and procedures
• Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications: Minimum Preferred Qualifications, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• A minimum of (1-2) years’ experience in a related field preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Essential physical requirements pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, include and are not limited to the following:

• Strength — (Heavy)- Exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
• Movement- climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, twisting, bending.
• Auditory- talking and hearing.
• Vision-near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, color vision, field of vision
• Environment conditions and physical surroundings-noise, vibration, atmospheric conditions

PREFERRED TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY:

• Personal computers
• Amada HA-250W Horizontal Band Saw
• Roll-In Vertical Band Saw

REQUIRED WORK CLOTHING AND PPE: Attire should not interfere with job performance or safety.

• Safety glasses are provided by Athena
• Closed toe safety shoes are required
