Automatic Lathe Operator

Job DescriptionEssential Functions / Responsibilities:Associates to perform all safety checks at the start of their shift on all cranes and tools and document this as necessary. Continue to perform safety checks throughout the shift.Material handling – operation of cranes, hoist, tables, forklifts, and other devices when necessary. Also successfully complete any training/safety program relating to the operation of the equipment.Be able to read, understand and interpret blueprints and job routings.Record required information on proper forms relating to machining practices where required.Properly operate and interpret various measuring devices (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)Correctly monitor and identify when equipment needs to be sent out for calibration.Lifting up to 50 lbs.Perform inspections using Quality Assurance procedures and work instructions.Work with the department supervisor and maintenance to make sure machines are running smoothly.Performs housekeeping and other related duties.Equipment Knowledge:Operate hoists and cranes in a safe manner.Knows how to operate general hand tools.Shop EquipmentLathe machine.Role Requirements:Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment to meet team expectations.Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures.Ability to understand and abide by all safety rules and regulations to perform the job.Must have reading, writing and simple math skills.Must have a basic understanding of computers.Physical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.About UsAt Samuel, we believe every team member brings unique and valuable skills, experiences and knowledge to our thriving business – enabling us to build on over 170 years of success in the metals industry.
