Senior Materials Manager

Location On‑Site (5 days) Responsibilities Primary point of responsibility for materials management, planning strategy, inventory control, and material flow for the site. Ensures optimization of materials management activities including scheduling, purchasing, inventory planning, supplier performance measurement, and indirect materials management and logistics. Responsible for the implementation, support and compliance of material standards including but not limited to SIOP, PSI, cycle counting, inventory planning processes and systems to facilitate flow from order management production planning to material procurement to shipping. Facilitates interaction with sourcing, engineering, accounting, marketing, material operations and quality assurance in support of the business’s strategic goals. Develops and drives countermeasures for underperforming key processes and/or material suppliers. Manages suppliers, materials and inventory in a manner consistent with the requirements of a lean six‑sigma manufacturing environment. Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and delegating. Organizes activities and assigns jobs according to staff requirements. Provides required support to global procurement commodity leaders during the supplier selection process. Promotes APICS certification within the facility. Develops and implements a professional development program for materials personnel both hourly and salaried. Drives improved supplier relationships. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred). APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) preferred. Minimum 10 years of experience in the integrated functions of materials management within a manufacturing environment that has embraced lean concepts, MRP manufacturing practices, and progressive supplier relationships. Minimum 5 years of managerial experience focusing on standardizing planning & execution, reducing sourcing complexity, and talent development. Experience with rate‑based, flow‑line (non‑MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments. Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP, scheduling and lean manufacturing processes. Experience with visual management systems. Experience with sequenced or just‑in‑time time manufacturing shops. Experience with NPD processes and set‑up. Key Competencies In-depth knowledge of computerized integrated information systems (manufacturing, materials management, production planning, procurement and distribution) and a superior understanding of manufacturing material flow in a plant. Strong customer service orientation and dedicated support of internal customer requirements. Proactive change agent and leadership skills to build and maintain a team‑oriented environment while leveraging lean methodologies. Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate staff and interact with various departments throughout the organization. Flexible, decisive and proactive problem solver. Ability to influence bottom line results. Strong communicator and strong organizational skills, with ability to work on multiple priorities at once. Ability to work well in high‑pressure, fast‑paced environment and proficiency at conflict resolution. Proficiency in information technology systems utilized in materials management. Compensation Annual base salary: $113,810.00 – $183,400.00. Salary. Incentive eligible: Yes.
