Global NOC Shift Lead

Pay rate: $40 - $45/hr on W2

The Global NOC Shift Lead role is required to provide consistent shift-level leadership across a follow-the-sun Network Operations Center model, with accountability for bridge oversight, incident prioritization, escalation, and stakeholder coordination during live operational events. As the operational leader for the shift, this role complements the Technical Recovery Specialist (TRS), who provides deep technical recovery leadership, and strengthens leadership continuity, operational discipline, and decision-making consistency across the global NOC.

Job Description:

The Global NOC Shift Lead is responsible for providing overall operational leadership for the shift across the Network Operations Center. The role maintains real-time oversight of all active operational bridges, directs priorities across concurrent incidents, and assumes leadership of high-impact or high-severity events to support rapid service restoration and effective stakeholder communication.

This role provides command-and-control leadership during live operational events, ensuring the right resources are engaged, escalations are timely, and communications remain clear and coordinated. The Shift Lead partners closely with engineers, resolver teams, the TRS, Command Center, Lines of Business, and peer leaders in other regions to sustain operational stability within a follow-the-sun model.Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership, Incident & Operational Management

• Provide overall leadership for the shift, maintaining oversight of all active operational bridges and ensuring effective prioritization across concurrent incidents.
• Lead or direct high-impact or high-severity incidents, acting as the operational authority for bridge governance, escalation management, stakeholder alignment, and pace of recovery.
• Partner closely with the Technical Recovery Specialist (TRS), who provides deep technical recovery leadership, while ensuring overall shift governance, resource alignment, and operational decision-making remain coordinated.

1. Stakeholder & Communication Management

• Drive timely escalation, decision-making, and stakeholder communication during incidents, ensuring updates are clear, accurate, and aligned to business impact.
• Provide leadership and direction to engineers across the shift, reinforcing operational discipline, urgency, accountability, and adherence to incident, problem, and change management practices.

1. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate effectively with internal support teams, external service providers, Command Center, and peer regions to ensure efficient resolution of network incidents and seamless handoff across shifts where needed.

1. Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Identify improvement opportunities in operational processes, shift execution, escalation pathways, and bridge management to strengthen resilience and reduce mean time to restore service.

• Drive governance consistency and leadership continuity by partnering with regional NOC Managers and peer Shift Leads within a globally aligned NOC operating model. Required Skills & ExperienceCritical Skills

• Extensive experience leading network operations, infrastructure operations, or a comparable technology operations function within a large-scale enterprise environment.

• Demonstrated success leading major incidents, bridge calls, and service restoration activity in a high-availability, time-critical environment.

• Experience operating within complex, multivendor environments, including coordination across internal teams, external partners, and outsourced service delivery models.

• Strong technical credibility across enterprise network technologies, with the ability to engage effectively on routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, load balancing, and core network protocols.

• Strong command of Incident, Problem, and Change Management disciplines, with the ability to apply operational rigor and governance during live events.

• Strong leadership presence with sound judgment, clear communication, and the ability to manage stakeholder expectations during periods of pressure, ambiguity, and business impact.

• Ability to lead independently, make timely decisions, and maintain composure while balancing competing priorities and multiple concurrent incidents in a global operating environment. Preferred Skills

• Exposure to SDN and cloud networking (e.g., Cisco ACI, NSX, SD-WAN).

• Experience with automation (Python, Ansible, APIs).

• Familiarity with Agile tools and workflows (JIRA, Confluence).

• Knowledge of configuration and network modeling tools (e.g., HPNA, Forward Networks).

• Experience in financial services or other highly regulated environments.

Work Schedule / Shift Pattern

This role operates within a 24x7 follow-the-sun Global Network Operations environment and requires flexibility to support continuous operational coverage.

Work schedules and shift patterns will be aligned to regional business and operational needs and may include weekends, public holidays.
