Position Summary

The role requires the provision of quality nursing care to all patients while serving as an active member of the nursing staff, adhering to the scope of practice. The successful candidate will deliver care with respect for patient rights and dignity. Duties and responsibilities may differ based on the assigned area of a Long-Term Care facility.

Position Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Graduate from an accredited school for LPNs or LVNs.
• Minimum Experience: New graduates are welcome to apply. One (1) year of experience in a hospital or long-term care setting is preferred.
• Licensing/Certification: Must hold an active LPN license in good standing in the State of Alaska. Current CPR certification (BCLS) is also required.
• Required Training: Candidates must complete and maintain competencies for this position, including an IV certification course.

Equipment and Tools

• Office machines (e.g., multi-line telephone, computer, fax machine).
• Medical equipment such as Dynamapp, thermometers, Datascope, and Pulse Oximetry.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Language Skills

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
• Skilled in writing reports and business correspondence.
• Effective communication with physicians and medical staff in a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from various stakeholders including physicians, clients, and the general public.
• Able to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds who may have varying levels of English proficiency.

Mathematical Skills

• Ability to perform basic mathematical operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across various units of measure.
• Competency in calculating rate, ratio, and percentage, along with the ability to interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

• Ability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Skills in interpreting various types of instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled forms.

Additional Information

Travelers are required to present proof of completed COVID vaccinations. The guaranteed hours for the first week may be adjusted due to the orientation starting on a Tuesday.
