Process Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support an Oral Solid Dose (OSD) pharmaceutical project in Carolina, Puerto Rico. The Process Engineer will serve as an Owner’s Representative , providing technical oversight and verification of third-party engineering designs and ensuring that process requirements are appropriately incorporated into project deliverables. This role is focused on OSD process design and project engineering and is not primarily a manufacturing, Quality, or validation position. Key Responsibilities Serve as the Owner’s Representative for OSD process design activities and provide technical oversight of third-party engineering firms. Review and evaluate third-party process designs, engineering packages, and project deliverables for technical completeness and alignment with project requirements. Perform design evaluations for pharmaceutical OSD processing and packaging systems. Review process concepts and equipment designs associated with blending, tableting, coating, and tablet packaging . Verify that process design solutions meet operational, capacity, functionality, and pharmaceutical industry requirements. Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and project meetings with engineering contractors, equipment suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Identify design gaps, inconsistencies, and potential technical risks and work with third parties to resolve them. Review process flow diagrams, equipment specifications, layouts, and other engineering documentation related to OSD operations. Provide technical input on equipment selection and process design decisions. Support project teams through design development, review, and implementation phases. Ensure third-party engineering deliverables align with established project objectives, user requirements, and process needs. Coordinate with cross-functional engineering and project teams to address design-related issues and facilitate timely project execution. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline . 10+ years of overall engineering experience within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry. Minimum 5 years of direct OSD design or pharmaceutical project engineering experience . Strong experience evaluating and reviewing third-party engineering designs . Hands‑on project experience with OSD processes, including: Tableting Blending Coating Strong understanding of pharmaceutical process equipment and OSD facility/process design. Experience working as an Owner’s Representative or in a similar technical oversight/project engineering capacity. Strong ability to review technical documentation, identify design deficiencies, and provide practical engineering recommendations. Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting large-scale pharmaceutical CAPEX or facility projects. Experience working with EPC/EPCM engineering firms and equipment vendors. Experience with design reviews, process layouts, equipment specifications, and process engineering documentation. Previous experience supporting projects within Puerto Rico or U.S. pharmaceutical manufacturing environments .
