LifeWise High School TeacherLifeWise high school teachers will demonstrate in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities for students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, committed and proficient in teaching.Qualifications and ExperienceBachelor's degree (required)Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience (with students) in either a school or church settingA mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of FaithActive participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the "What We Believe" section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of FaithJob DescriptionComplete Initial and Ongoing Training Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and prior to teaching in the LifeWise classroomParticipate in the annual LifeWise Summit each yearAttend at least one Teachers' Lounge or one LifeWise Meet-Up per yearStay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise emailTeach LifeWise Classes Prepare and implement the for-credit high school curriculum provided by LifeWiseInvest in connecting with students through building relationships and praying for them regularlyCultivate an organized and encouraging classroom environment through various teaching strategies and discipline that is redemptive in naturePrioritize student engagementMaintain Records Communicate grades to school office staff for student recordsKeep accurate student attendance recordsDistribute accurate and timely assessments to meet high school requirementsMaintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permission as noted on parent permission slipsPrepare adequate lesson plans, information and materials for a substitute teacherMaintain the Classroom Establish a culture that fosters academic pursuits and a love of learning as a means to promote spiritual growthMaintain a clean, attractive, age appropriate and well-ordered classroomKnow the procedures for handling emergency situationsPurchase classroom supplies as needed using the funds provided by the program directorCommunicate Act as a LifeWise ambassador within the communityAttend events as available or requested by the program directorMaintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-beingBuild relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changesSubmit regular updates, stories and photos to the program directorPromote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefsBenefitsRetirement plan, including employer matchLifeWise Academy's hiring practices and EEO Statement are fully in compliance with both federal and state law.
