Description POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: Mental Health Professional (Therapist) - Licensed/Under Supervision MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a Master's degree in counseling, social work, or other mental health related field from an accredited graduate school. Must be licensed or licensed eligible. (LPC, LMFT, LBP, LCSW) SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Have working knowledge of DSM-V
Ability to diagnose, intervene, and effectively refer persons in need of mental health services. Knowledge of and ability to apply Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) in practice.
Ability to evaluate situations and adopt an effective course of action, to delegate responsibilities, organizes and presents facts effectively.
Ability to establish working relationships with clinical, administrative, and support staff in order to develop professionalism and coordination within the team.
Professional presentation of oneself always with the ability to establish and maintain an effective, cooperative working relationship with fellow employees, clients, community partners, and the public while maintaining objectivity and a positive, collaborative, emotionally intelligent attitude.
Must possess good working knowledge of community social service resources, effective crisis management skills, behavioral health resources, ability to provide trauma-informed care and a commitment to the Sanctuary Model components and philosophies.
Ability to communicate clearly and in an emotionally intelligent manner with clear, polite, and respectful communication with staff, clients served, administration, community partners- in person, through written correspondence and on the telephone.
Must demonstrate professional and ethical behavior as well as the ability to maintain strictest confidentiality guidelines for interactions regarding client information.
Ability to work well under pressure meeting deadlines with efficiency and consistency while maintaining a balance between good physical and mental health and the job requirements.
Ability to consistently practice and promote the Sanctuary Model's seven commitments of: non-violence, emotional intelligence, social learning, open communication, social responsibility, democracy, and growth/change as well as safety planning and community meetings.
Willingness to meet individuals and families in their environment, including homes, and community.
Ability to maintain strictest confidentiality guidelines for interactions regarding client information. EXAMPLE OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Will provide an array or select clinical behavioral health care services to adults, children and families, as needed and assigned in line with education, training and or experience to clients at Counseling and Recovery Services of Oklahoma. Participate in the planning and promotion of community mental health service programs.
Meet established productivity expectations, when applicable. Domain A, B, C, D
Direct psychotherapy, assessments or treatment plans, involving a minimum of 10 hours per week individual, group, or family therapy. A, D
Maintain current clinical case records and other required documentation in a manner to meet established requirements. A, D
Attend staff meetings as well as clinical meetings when scheduled a minimum of one day per month. A, C
Will provide on-going treatment to clients. A, B, C
Will complete appropriate documentation and development treatment plans.
Participate in clinical staffing. A
Participate in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement activities as required. A
Responsible for OMHIS/ECHO reporting of any clients directly assigned to his/her care.
Confer with medical staff on problems related to clients in his/her care. A
Confer with medical staff on appropriate cases. A
Keep all paperwork up-to-date and turn in any required paperwork/reports in a timely fashion. A, D, E
Support and promote a service environment for individuals in need of behavioral health and/or co-occurring services that is recovery focused, welcoming, and attentive to the needs of individuals who may have experienced trauma in their lives. A, B, C, D
Perform a basic screening to determine whether COD might exist and be able to refer the consumer for a formal diagnostic assessment for co-occurring disorders. Domain A, B, C, D
Be able to engage the client in such a way as to enhance and facilitate future interaction. A, B, C, D
Have the skills to de-escalate consumers who are agitated, anxious, angry, or in other vulnerable emotional states. A, B, C
Manage a crisis involving a consumer, including a threat of suicide or harm to others. A, B, C
Refer a consumer to the appropriate mental health or substance abuse treatment facility when needed and follow up to ensure the client receives needed care. A, B, C, E
Have knowledge of psychotropic medications and their actions. A
Use integrated models of assessment, intervention, and recovery for person having both substance-related and mental disorders. A
Collaboratively develop and implement an integrated treatment plan based on thorough assessment that addresses both/all disorders and establishes sequenced goals based on urgent needs, considering the stage of recovery and level of engagement. A, B, C
Provide and/or participate in ongoing in-service training, as needed. A, B, C, OTHER DUTIES: Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to move from location to location, bending, stooping, lifting 25 pounds, communicate clearly, prepare written communications, present information to other employees, process complex information within established procedures/programs, enter data to various programs. Must be able to climb stairs and access non-handicapped equipped residences/facilities. REQUIRED TRAINING: (Initial and Annual Re-certifications required unless indicated otherwise) New Hire Orientation & Essential Learning Training Sanctuary Training Thera-Ops Training (non-violent physical interventions) First Aid/CPR Co-occurring Disorders/Substance Abuse Annual Harassment CAMS Training Psychological First aid Annual Workplace Violence Annual Safety & Fire Training Annual Diversity Training Annual HIV Training Annual HIPAA and Confidentiality Training Electronic Health Record Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Assessment and Online Training *Full TF-CBT Therapy training for therapist providing ongoing therapy services to children Electronic Health Record HIPAA: This position is permitted to locate information necessary to follow through with the position responsibilities. (i.e. looking for a signed consent, locating insurance information.) Information should be requested through the Medical Records staff initially or under the supervision of Medical Record staff. REPORTS TO: Tulsa Program Director, or the Clinical Director in the absence of the Program Director EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Exempt HOURS: Some evening and/or weekend work may be required. SUPERVISES: None PRODUCTIVITY: Productivity for this position is a minimum of 25 hours per week.
