$190k - $225kStateJobsNY
Duties Description The Director of Hospital Procurement ("Director") serves as the lead facilitator for System Administration, and system-wide, procurement related to SUNY State-operated hospitals and other health related needs. The Director identifies and develops new procurement opportunities across the system. This role partners with System Administration and hospital/campus stakeholders to propose, design, pilot, and implement strategic procurement initiatives in the health and hospital sphere. Responsibilities include creating and refining policies and processes to support these initiatives, as well as establishing and monitoring key point indicators to evaluate effectiveness and drive continuous improvement. This role ensures system-wide procurement strategies, contracts, and processes are understood, adopted, and aligned with health and hospital operational and clinical needs, driving adoption, compliance, and value realization across hospital spend.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify new procurement opportunities across SUNY and collaborate with system and campuses to develop strategic procurement initiatives.
- Lead and develop policies related to support university-wide procurement rules and opportunities, including ongoing ownership of the policies and their implementation.

- Help hospitals adopt and use system-wide contracts, suppliers, and catalogues, working closely with Category Managers and central procurement.
- Coordinate and help resolve hospital-specific supplier, contract, or supply continuity issues with support from central procurement teams.
- Analyze hospital contract usage, savings, and supplier performance data to provide insights for supplier management and portfolio oversight. Use SUNY data to identify aggregate high expenditure categories for potential cost savings and operational efficiencies.
- Keep communication flowing between hospital leadership and central procurement teams about priorities, changes, and new initiatives. Make sure all purchasing activities follow applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
- Support change management efforts by helping hospitals understand and transition to new procurement processes, systems, or contracts.
- Provide hospital insights and operational input to guide category and supplier decisions (while central teams retain ownership of sourcing, contracting, and system configuration).
- Respond to inquiries from various state agencies involved in the contract approval process (Attorney General's Office, Office of the State Comptroller, Office of General Service).
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or related field.

- Strong problem-solving skills, especially when dealing with complex operational or supplier issues.
- Clear communicator who can work effectively with both clinical and non-clinical audiences.
