Senior Counselor

Job Description Position: Senior Counselor (SL‑4) – full‑time 10‑month renewable position with benefits. Location: Binghamton, NY. Salary: $56,000 – $63,000 (10‑month, college‑year). Anticipated start date: July 30, 2026. Responsibilities Provide short‑term individual counseling to a culturally diverse student population. Lead small group counseling sessions. Conduct assessments and crisis interventions. Develop and facilitate psycho‑educational workshops, outreach activities, and community liaison/consultant relationships. Provide clinical supervision and training to interns. Perform administrative tasks, charting, and documentation required for clinical staff. Offer consultation or outreach outside core business hours as needed. Eligibility & Requirements Master's degree in mental health or a related field (or higher), conferred by start date; or a doctoral program with degree requirements completed by start date. Licensure, or eligibility for licensure, to practice in New York by start date (including eligibility for a limited permit or final year doctoral supervision). Generalist clinical skills and experience in assessing and intervening with a range of disorders and levels of psychopathology. Multicultural awareness, knowledge, responsiveness, and skills to work with culturally diverse student populations. Willingness to work in a time‑limited model of care. Experience providing crisis intervention. Ability to manage a busy caseload and complete charting and administrative tasks efficiently. Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentations and leading group discussions. Team‑oriented, student‑focused approach to counseling. Flexible availability for occasional evening or weekend work. Preferred Qualifications Experience in multicultural counseling and with students of color. Advanced mental health license (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT) or a doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or related field. Experience in a university or college counseling center. Active participation in professional organizations. Additional Information Position is a Campus Security Authority for Clery Act compliance.
