Environmental Engineer I

Environmental Engineer IThe Environmental Engineer I supports environmental planning, design, and compliance efforts for various types of projects. This role works under close supervision to assist with technical analyses, fieldwork, and documentation.ResponsibilitiesAssist with environmental site assessments, permitting, and compliance tasksPerform field environmental sampling (soil, groundwater, surface water, air) and data collectionSupport preparation of technical work plans and reports, permit applications, and environmental documentation (e.g., NEPA-related documents, SWPPP, SPCC)Conduct basic engineering calculations and analysesCoordinate with internal teams (civil, geotechnical, construction)Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and safety standardsMaintain accurate field notes and project recordsOther duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or related engineering field0–2 years of relevant experience (internships included)Basic understanding of federal/state environmental regulationsStrong written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsEIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification or ability to obtainFamiliarity with GIS, AutoCAD, or environmental modeling toolsFieldwork experienceAsbestos Sampling ExperienceTravel RequirementsThis position requires travel (0% - 20%) as part of its primary responsibilities.*ONSITE: West Scramento, CA, Long Beach CA, Riverside, CA and Phoenix, AZ.Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentCombination of office and fieldworkAbility to travel to project sites and perform outdoor work in varying conditionsEEO StatementUES is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is proud to recruit the most qualified candidates.
