Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics Department: 22R000 - College of Business Division: 2R0000 - Academic Affairs Driver Classification: Non-Driver FLSA: Exempt Schedule Type: Full Time (37.5 hrs per week or more) Posted Salary Grade: Faculty Full Time - 01 Retirement: KTRS Contact Person: Jim Blair Job Summary/Basic Functions The College of Business at Eastern Kentucky University, an AACSB International accredited school, invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics beginning August 2026. Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in Finance, Economics, or a closely related field (Ph.D. or D.B.A.) from an AACSB International accredited institution. ABD applicants may be considered with evidence of a scheduled doctoral defense that occurs no later than May prior to a Fall appointment and must have their doctoral degree awarded (verified by official transcripts) at the time of appointment. The position begins August 2026. The position serves the Finance and Economics courses in the undergraduate business core and potentially in the MBA program. It requires excellence in and a commitment to teaching. In addition to face‑to‑face instruction, some online teaching will be helpful. The successful candidate will maintain a workload consistent with the needs and priorities of the college and the institution. Courses may include, but are not limited to, banking, financial planning, financial literacy, financial technology, macroeconomics, microeconomics, personal finance, and other related fields. The successful candidate will teach in‑person courses, although some semesters may include online classes. Conducting and publishing high‑quality scholarly research in economics, finance, or a related area in peer‑reviewed journals consistent with the College of Business requirements for Scholarly Academics is required. Other responsibilities include service in support of Finance and Economics, service to the profession, the University, and the business community consistent with EKU’s mission. The University places a high priority on being leaders in the responsible use of artificial intelligence and in building such capacity in our students. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of artificial intelligence pertinent to the discipline and/or a willingness to pursue professional development to acquire such expertise. Minimum Qualifications Education: Earned doctoral degree in Finance, Economics, or a closely related field (Ph.D. or D.B.A.) from an AACSB International accredited institution. ABD applicants may be considered with evidence of a scheduled doctoral defense that occurs no later than May prior to a Fall appointment and have earned their doctoral degree (verified by official transcripts) at the time of appointment. Job Duties 10% - Utilize effective teaching methods, innovative teaching techniques, and teaching modalities, and multiple evaluation and assessment procedures as a means to help meet the needs of EKU students. - (Essential) 10% - Demonstrate the ability to teach, develop, and implement courses related to one’s curricular area. - (Essential) 20% - Develop and maintain an active research agenda. - (Essential) 5% - Keep up to date with one’s field and curricular areas by reading and reviewing current scholarly or creative works and by attending conferences, seminars, workshops, courses, and faculty development activities. - (Essential) 5% - Advise students in fulfilling program, departmental, college, and university committee assignments. - (Essential) 5% - Demonstrate the willingness and ability to work effectively with colleagues to support the mission of EKU, its academic units, and its campus community. - (Essential) 5% - Demonstrate respect for and support EKU’s student population. - (Essential) 40% - Teaching courses as assigned at the times and in the locations necessary to meet the needs of EKU students. - (Essential) Sponsorship Sponsorship: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
