We are seeking an experienced ADAS Systems Integration Engineer for Vehicle Development, Test & Validation of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Automated Driving (AD) technologies for our customer in San Jose, California.

The successful candidate will play a key role in end-to-end feature development, software and hardware integration, vehicle commissioning, test execution, data analysis, and issue resolution. This position requires a hands-on engineer who is comfortable working with development vehicles, sensors, ECUs, measurement systems, and globally distributed engineering teams. 

What You'll Do

• Develop and refine ADAS/AD feature requirements, customer functions, and engineering specifications.
• Support feature development throughout the entire lifecycle, from concept and integration through validation and release.
• Create validation strategies, test plans, acceptance criteria, and scenario-based test catalogs.
• Manage requirements and system interfaces across software, ECUs, sensors, vehicle networks, and supporting systems.
• Apply systems engineering methodologies, including Automotive SPICE, Scrum, Functional Safety, and SOTIF practices.

• Integrate and deploy ADAS software, ECUs, sensors, and computing platforms into development vehicles.
• Perform software flashing, configuration, calibration, startup, and system verification activities.
• Maintain software baselines, vehicle configurations, release documentation, and compatibility records.
• Troubleshoot software and hardware integration issues through diagnostics, log analysis, and communication trace evaluation.
• Ensure development vehicles remain operational, reproducible, and ready for testing activities.

• Conduct vehicle-level, integration, regression, smoke, simulation, and road testing activities.
• Execute local and cross-country test drives while maintaining safety and compliance requirements.
• Verify vehicle readiness and troubleshoot issues identified during testing.
• Document test results, defects, and corrective actions in internal systems.
• Support release readiness assessments and validation signoff activities.

• Work closely with software developers, systems engineers, validation teams, workshop personnel, and project managers.
• Coordinate with international engineering teams, including engineering partners in Germany.
• Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and setup documentation.
• Escalate safety, quality, schedule, and technical risks when necessary.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in ADAS/AD development, automotive software integration, embedded systems, vehicle testing, or related areas.
• Experience integrating software and hardware into development vehicles.
• Hands-on experience with automotive measurement and data acquisition systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

Working knowledge of: 

• CAN / CAN FD
• FlexRay
• Automotive Ethernet
• Windows and Linux environments
• Automotive diagnostics and networking

• Master's degree in a related engineering discipline.
• Experience with camera, radar, lidar, GNSS, and localization systems.
• Experience using: 
  • Vector CANoe / CANalyzer
  • dSPACE
  • ETAS tools
  • Vehicle data logging systems
  • Diagnostic and calibration tools
• Experience with Python, Bash, PowerShell, Git, and Visual Studio.
• Knowledge of SIL/HIL testing environments.
• Automotive OEM or Tier 1 experience.
• Basic German language skills.

Work Environment

• Full-time, on-site position located in San Jose, CA .
• Regular interaction with development vehicles, workshop environments, and measurement equipment.
• Domestic and international travel required.
• Occasional evening and weekend work during testing campaigns.
• Ability to drive for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work in varying weather, road, traffic, and environmental conditions.
