Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities. Qualifications High school diploma or GED Formal academic assessment, associate’s degree, or two years of study at a higher learning institution* Valid Texas Educational Aide certificate *Required by Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for aides who are providing instructional support in Title I, Part A program. Instructional Support Provide instruction to students under the direction of a teacher; work with individual students or small groups. Help teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment. Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers. Student Management Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students. Professional Effectiveness Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain confidentiality. Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance. Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned. Follow district policies and procedures pertaining to the job assignment.
