It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.Description of WorkThis Vocational Evaluator position is housed in the Elizabeth City VR/IL Unit Office and provides vocational evaluation services primarily to individuals with disabilities served by counselors in the Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Pasquotank, Perquimans area.The selected candidate provides comprehensive vocational evaluation assessments for persons with a range of disabilities, education levels, and work experience to assist with job planning and placement.Job responsibilities include the following:Administering, scoring, and interpreting an extensive variety of vocational interests, achievements, and psychological testsAnalyzing consumers' medical, psychological, socio-economic, vocational and educational informationDeveloping a formal evaluation plan for each clientConducting community-based assessments and making referrals for evaluation services to the consumer and the rehabilitation counselor(s)Creating written reports outlining vocational aptitudes, interests, and abilities which are foundational to the vocational planning processGathering occupational resource information for better service deliverablesParticipating in multi-disciplinary teams and committees for exchange of information and planningPartnering with consumers and their family members, employers, school personnel, and other community agencies/contactsPerforming other duties as assignedSelected applicant needs to have the means to travel as the job requires.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesThis is a repost and prior applicants will remain under consideration and do not need to reapply.Salary Range: $39,244 -$68,679Recruitment Range: $39,244 -$61,320Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.The following Management Preferences are not required, but applicants that possess these skills are preferred.• Knowledge of or experience in case management• Knowledge of or experience working with people with disabilities or underserved/marginalized populations• Knowledge of or experience working with a team of professionals to help a client meet a goal.*Position is funded in part through federal funds.*Position is eligible for a hybrid-teleworking schedule to include weekly onsite work hours*Posting closes at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end dateAbout Division of Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD):The DHHS Division of Employment and Independence for People with Disabilities (EIPD) promotes employment and independence for people with disabilities through customer partnership and community leadership.
