About the Facility West Palm Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center (WPBVAMC) The West Palm Beach VAMC offers a full range of patient care services, as well as comprehensive medical education and residency programs and limited research. The West Palm Beach VA Medical Center provides health services to veterans throughout South Florida and the Treasure Coast at its main facility in West Palm Beach and six contractor-operated community-based outpatient clinics in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Fort Pierce, Okeechobee, Stuart, and Vero Beach. Registered Nurse - Responsibilities

• Shall provide hemodialysis to both inpatients and outpatients.
• Hemodialysis for critical care patients is done in the critical care units. All other patients are transported to the dialysis unit.
• Shall provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with end-stage renal disease who are being maintained by intermittent hemodialysis and/or peritoneal dialysis in either a chronic unit setting or a critical care/acute care unit setting. Either area requires the nurse to provide treatment utilizing the nursing process, according to the written procedures and policies of the hemodialysis unit.
• The dialysis nurse is required to perform hemodialysis via a fistula, graft, or venous catheter.

Registered Nurse - Nurse Qualifications

• Completed courses for nursing from an accredited program approved by either the Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
• A current license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia.
• A minimum of three years' direct patient care experience.
