Interventional Radiology Technologist

Role Overview: Performs or assists in cardiac, neuro, body, and vascular-interventional procedures, ensuring patient safety and optimal imaging quality. Responsible for preparing, administering medications, and documenting radiation exposure in compliance with regulations. Operates imaging and monitoring equipment, maintains sterile techniques, and evaluates images for diagnostic accuracy. Provides education to students and healthcare providers, participates in quality improvement activities, and supports physiological monitoring during procedures. Key Responsibilities: Verify patient identity, obtain correct orders, and prepare for exams while maintaining confidentiality. Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles. Administer medications via vascular access as prescribed. Evaluate and verify images, ensure proper data storage and transfer. Assist or perform diagnostic, fluoroscopic, or interventional procedures. Maintain intra-arterial access, monitor hemodynamics, and perform manual hemostasis. Operate and perform quality control on monitoring and imaging devices. Follow sterile techniques and record procedural data accurately. Participate in departmental quality and process improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Skills: Certification by ARRT-R and advanced certification in ARRT-VI, CI, or CV. Graduate from an accredited radiologic or cardiovascular technology program or hold ARRT certification with RCIS or RCIS certification. ACLS certification required; PALS preferred on certain campuses. Proficiency in radiologic and interventional procedures, with strong attention to safety and quality standards.
