- Work with company leadership to establish annual safety goals, priorities, expectations, and accountability measures.
- Maintain, update, and assist in developing company safety manuals, policies, procedures, and employee safety materials.
- Develop and implement safety SOPs specific to company operations, equipment, self-performed work, and recurring field activities.

- Track open safety items through resolution and communicate recurring issues to operations leadership.
- Partner with superintendents and project managers to correct hazards promptly and document follow-up.
- Exercise stop-work authority when an imminent danger or serious unsafe condition exists.
Project-Specific Safety Planning
- Develop, review, and maintain site‑specific safety plans as required by project type, owner requirements, contract documents, or regulatory obligations.
- Participate in preconstruction and pre‑mobilization meetings to identify project‑specific risks, including fall protection, excavation, crane / hoisting, electrical exposure, silica, confined spaces, demolition, public protection, occupied facilities, traffic control, and site logistics.
- Assist project teams with subcontractor safety pre‑planning, task hazard analysis, pre‑task planning, and high‑risk activity reviews.
- Review subcontractor safety plans, insurance‑related safety submittals, SDS information, and project‑specific safety documentation as needed.
- Support project teams with owner‑required safety documentation, prequalification, and requalification requests.
Training and Safety Communication
- Develop, coordinate, and/or deliver new‑hire safety orientation and project‑specific orientations.
- Provide or coordinate toolbox talks, safety stand‑downs, refresher training, and topic‑specific training based on project needs or observed trends.
- Facilitate periodic company safety meetings with field leadership and management.
- Reinforce safe work practices related to PPE, housekeeping, ladders / scaffolds, fall protection, excavations, equipment, tools, material handling, hot work, and public protection.
- Maintain training records and assist with tracking required certifications, including OSHA, First Aid / CPR, equipment training, and other applicable credentials.
Incident, Injury, and Claim Support
- Respond to incidents, near misses, property damage events, and employee injuries.
- Conduct accident and injury investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Prepare incident reports and maintain supporting documentation, photographs, witness statements, and corrective action records.

Regulatory Compliance and Agency Interaction
- Monitor safety compliance with applicable OSHA, IOSHA, EPA, DOT, owner, and project‑specific safety requirements.
- Assist with OSHA / IOSHA inspections, including inspection walkthroughs, document responses, closing conferences, informal conferences, and citation‑related follow‑up.
- Maintain required safety records, inspection logs, training documentation, SDS records, incident records, and corrective action documentation.
- Stay current on applicable construction safety regulations, industry best practices, and changes affecting company operations.
Subcontractor and Field Team Coordination
- Communicate safety expectations to subcontractors and field personnel.
- Work collaboratively with subcontractors to resolve safety issues while maintaining accountability.
- Participate in subcontractor coordination meetings, foreman meetings, and project safety meetings as needed.
- Mentor field leaders on safety leadership, documentation, hazard recognition, and corrective action follow‑through.
