Summary – Basic Function Of The Role Material Handlers play a critical role in ensuring a smooth and efficient production flow across the Columbus facility. They supply work cells with required materials, move finished goods to shipping and receiving, and accurately transact inventory movements in the warehouse management system. Material Handlers operate a variety of material‑handling equipment, support daily shipping and receiving activities, and help maintain safe, organized staging and storage areas to ensure timely production and high service levels. Advancement from Material Handler I to Material Handler II is based on verified proficiency in the following key areas: Functional Skills – material accuracy, equipment operation, quality & inspection, inventory controls, cross‑training & flexibility, process improvement, and 5S, organization & safety. Shift Rotating shift: Monday– Friday; 8:00 am– 4:30 pm; flexible. Saturdays when production needs exist. Job Duties And Responsibilities Supply work cells with materials required for product assembly. Deliver components to production and transport finished goods to warehouse and shipping. Assist with cycle counting and help maintain accurate inventory levels. Use handheld RF scanners to transact materials throughout the facility. Pick, verify, and pack orders for daily shipments. Receive, verify, and distribute incoming shipments. Perform put‑aways and maintain organized staging areas. Operate order picker, swing‑reach, and stand‑up forklifts for picking, put‑away, and material movement. Maintain forklift certification (training provided if needed). Follow all safety rules for production and warehouse areas. Safely operate equipment and immediately report hazards or near misses. Maintain organized, safe work areas in accordance with 5S principles. Perform additional tasks as assigned to support production and warehouse flow. Skills And Competencies Strong attention to detail in material handling and counting. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Ability to cross‑train in multiple warehouse and production support areas. Accurate data entry and comfort using warehouse management tools. Ability to work at heights as needed. Thrives in a fast‑paced environment and adapts to changing priorities. Basic English reading, writing, and speaking ability. Education And Experience High School Diploma or GED required. Previous warehouse experience preferred but not required. Forklift certification preferred; Enerpac will train and certify. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn required. Physical Demands Ability to lift 1–30 pounds intermittently, and frequently lift 10 pounds. May lift documents/work materials up to 75 pounds (assisted lift). Must walk to various primary work locations, stand 100% of the workday occasionally bending 90° and occasionally twisting 45°. Work Environment Manufacturing environment with moving mechanical parts; exposure to vibration and elevated noise levels on the plant floor.
