Respiratory Therapist – Pediatrics Location: Largo, FL Department: Nursing Services Shifts: Full‑time, Overnight (12‑hour, 7P‑7A) Pay: $36‑$40/hr + Shift Differentials Job Overview The Respiratory Therapist (RT) plays an integral role in the success of our team, providing assessment, treatment, and management of patients with breathing difficulties or cardiopulmonary disorders. The RT performs diagnostic tests, administers respiratory therapies such as oxygen therapy and aerosol medications, monitors patient progress, and educates patients on managing their lung conditions. The RT works closely with physicians to develop treatment plans and often operates specialized medical equipment. Primary Responsibilities Assess and monitor patients' respiratory status, including performing diagnostic tests. Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and other respiratory treatments. Educate patients and families on lung disease management and use of home equipment. Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff to develop and adjust treatment plans. Respond to acute respiratory emergencies and provide appropriate interventions. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements. Qualifications Licensed Respiratory Therapist in Florida (or eligibility to obtain license). Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a pediatric or acute care setting. Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy equipment and protocols. Excellent communication and patient education skills. Ability to work independently during overnight shifts and collaborate with multidisciplinary team.
