Job Description
TITLE
Registered Nurse - Neuro Unit

SCHEDULE
- Shift: Nights
- 36- or 48-hour blocks accepted
- Weekend requirement: 5-6 weekend shifts per contract (about every other weekend)

ASSIGNMENT DETAILS
- Length: 13-26 weeks accepted
- Census/beds: 24 beds

REQUIREMENTS
- License: NC or compact license
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS; NIHSS certification preferred
- Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience; neuro experience preferred
- EMR: Experience with EPIC preferred
- Unit-specific skills: Neuro patient assessment, stroke/CVA care, telemetry/dysrhythmia recognition, IV start/management, peripheral line care, non-invasive airway support

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive care for adult and geriatric patients with neurological and general medical conditions.
- Perform neuro assessments and monitor for changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and families regarding care plans and health management strategies.
- Support clinical staff in managing and responding to patient emergencies.

COMPLIANCE / NOTES
- RTO policy: Up to 7 days max (auto-approved, no holidays); no RTO during the first week.
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays.
- Scrubs: Navy blue.
- Pre-start testing: Must complete required lab/testing within 48 hours after signing; EKG testing required prior to start for this specialty.
