Diesel Technician

Position Description Immediately hiring a permanent full time experienced mid-level diesel technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Kapolei, Hawaii. Overview We are seeking a maintenance repair mechanic to join our Ryder team to work on heavy duty vehicles. This role includes on-the-job training and opportunities for certifications and bonuses as described below. Compensation and Schedule Hourly Pay: $27.68 per hour Schedule: Monday–Saturday with one day off during the week Hours: Second shift Monday–Friday 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm; Saturday 6:30 am – 3:30 pm Sign On Bonus: $3,000 Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained up to $700 Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter Tool Box/Tool Allowance provided Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) Two or more years of related training and experience (classroom and work experience) preferred Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred This position may require driving Ryder vehicles; you must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire, pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and a background check including a 3-year motor vehicle history Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties and standard vehicle maintenance Conduct standard component inspections and repairs and preventive maintenance Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools when applicable Identify root cause of failures and perform repairs; replace defective components as instructed Perform facility maintenance duties and assist drivers/customers to determine nature of complaints Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation; comply with safety, DOT, MOT guidelines Provide support duties as required to assist operations Additional Information On-the-job paid training PPE and uniforms issued Tool and boot allowance provided State-of-the-art equipment Safety is a top priority Location and Access Stop in and meet the team at the Ryder Shop: 91-130 Kalaeloa Blvd, Kapolei, HI 96707 Visit: EEO Statement Ryder is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and Drug Free workplace.
