Psychiatric Nurse

Psychiatric NurseWe are seeking qualified candidates for the Psychiatric Nurse position. To deliver patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, care planning, implementation, resident and family education, and evaluation of care. Instruct, counsel, and provide support to assigned residents, with a focus on client independence and individual needs. Maintain an environment that encourages proactive decision-making and growth for each resident. Receives direct supervision from the Nurse Manager.Other Responsibilities, but not all-inclusive:Review MAR and make needed corrections.Provide the home manager and team coordinator with a report of all corrections.Review all previous months' medical appointments and assist the home manager with any follow-up recommendations. Ensure all documentation is correctly filed.Contact the prescribing physician for any medication needed for the following monthQualifications:Licensed Registered Nurse. Experience in community nursing and/or developmental disabilities preferred.Experience in Adolescent Psychiatry.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Possession of a valid driver's license.Scope:Ability to lift and position patients of various weights to and from assorted patient equipment while maintaining patient comfort and safety.Frequent talking and listening.Requires the ability to carry, fold, kneel, reach, stack, stoop, and bend, which may include direct intervention with clients.Must be available for local travel.Possess manual dexterity and fine motor skills.May require crisis intervention in emergency situations.May be required to report to work during emergencies including inclement weather.Computer skills to include word processing and databases.Horizon House offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental, 9 paid holidays, generous paid time off, a retirement savings plan, a tax-sheltered annuity, tuition reimbursement, and opportunities for advancement.
