Field Technician / Environmental Scientist

Sovereign Consulting Inc., a rapidly growing environmental consulting and remediation firm headquartered in Robbinsville, NJ, is seeking a full-time Field Technician / Environmental Scientist (0-3 years experience) for the St. Louis, Missouri area. Field Technicians / Environmental Scientists handle fieldwork activities, which require outdoor work, in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities:

• Perform environmental sampling (e.g., groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil, soil gas) duties
• Complete monitoring well development activities
• Record field notes for each specific task performed
• Maintain equipment calibration logs
• Perform remediation system operational monitoring and basic maintenance activities
• Handle other related duties assigned
• Full-time daily position located at project site office in Wood River, IL working with on-site team
• Company vehicle provided at project site for driving onsite
• Opportunities may arise for occasional travel to other project sites
• Adhere to Sovereign Consulting Inc. Health & Safety Standards in all field-related activities

Requirements:

• Minimum Associate's/Bachelor's Degree Required.
• High School diploma or equivalent. A Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., geology, env. sci., engineering) for Environmental Scientist position is a plus. Flexibility for position with someone with little to no experience/with or without degree to a degreed professional with up to 5 years' experience.
• 0-3+ years of related fieldwork experience. Previous experience performing fieldwork or remediation system operations and maintenance in the environmental consulting industry is a plus.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of groundwater sampling techniques including low-flow sampling methods is preferred.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification required, will train the right candidate.
• Must have a good driving record and be able to drive a company vehicle.

Employment at Sovereign is contingent upon the results of a Drug & Alcohol screening test and a pre-placement medical evaluation that determines candidate's ability to capably and safely perform the proposed job duties. A background check will also be required. Candidates must present documentation that confirms identity and eligibility for employment in the United States.

Salary will be commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.
