Patent Agent / Patent Associate (Elec/Comp/Soft Eng.) 3+ Years - Intellectual Property (Austin, TX | Onsite)

Direct Counsel represents a well-regarded Am Law firm seeking a Patent Agent or Patent Associate to join its growing Intellectual Property practice in Austin. This is a standout opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, including AI/ML, software, fintech, and telecommunications.

You'll play a key role in building and managing strategic patent portfolios for innovative clients ranging from startups to established technology companies.

What You'll Do:

Draft and prosecute patent applications in the computer arts (software, AI/ML, fintech, telecom, etc.)
Advise clients on patent strategy, portfolio development, and IP protection
Work directly with inventors and business teams to identify and protect innovations
Support domestic and international patent prosecution efforts

What We're Looking For:

3+ years of patent prosecution experience
Strong experience drafting software and computer-related patent applications
USPTO registration required
Technical background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or similar
Experience with AI/ML or emerging technologies is a strong plus
Excellent writing, analytical, and client communication skills
Strong academic credentials
