Black Youth Suicide Prevention Coordinator

The Black Youth Suicide Prevention Coalition (BYSPC) Coordinator is responsible for elevating and empowering Black youth voices to support the development and implementation of a statewide Black Youth Suicide Prevention Plan. This position serves as the primary coordinator for the BYSPC Youth Advisory Council, fostering meaningful youth engagement, supporting youth-led initiatives, and ensuring that youth perspectives inform coalition priorities and statewide prevention efforts.Working collaboratively with coalition members and community partners, including the Oregon Health Authority, Multnomah County, AdultingIRL, and other stakeholder organizations, the BYSPC Coordinator facilitates partnership development, coordinates projects, and advances the goals of the Youth Advisory Council. The BYSPC Coordinator provides project management, logistical, and administrative support for youth-driven initiatives while cultivating an inclusive, culturally responsive environment that encourages leadership, advocacy, and collaboration. The BYSPC Coordinator also works closely with the Youth Advisory Coordinator and coalition leadership to monitor progress, communicate updates, and ensure alignment between youth-led initiatives and the coalition's strategic objectives.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Facilitate meetings and planning for other REAP youth advisory councils.Coordinate and participate in Black Youth Suicide Prevention Coalition (BYSPC) planning meetings to support the development and implementation of a statewide Black Youth Suicide Prevention Plan.Build and maintain collaborative relationships with coalition members, community partners, and stakeholders to advance BYSPC goals and initiatives.Manage internal and external communications for BYSPC, ensuring timely and effective dissemination of information to partners, youth, and stakeholders.Coordinate and schedule meetings, events, and activities that support coalition initiatives and Youth Advisory Council engagement.Provide ongoing support to Youth Advisory Council members through regular one-on-one and group check-ins, mentorship, and resource coordination.Facilitate and support youth-led and adult-led meetings, ensuring meaningful youth engagement and inclusive participation.Recruit, onboard, and support REAP youth participants and Youth Advisory Council members, fostering leadership development and sustained engagement.Plan, coordinate, and provide on-site support for BYSPC meetings, trainings, community events, and outreach activities.Represent BYSPC at community meetings, conferences, and public events to share coalition initiatives, strengthen partnerships, and promote youth suicide prevention efforts.Consult with coalition partners and community organizations on strategies to authentically elevate and integrate youth voice into planning, decision-making, and program development.Monitor, document, and report on project activities, accomplishments, challenges, and outcomes to coalition leadership, REAP, and funding partners.Prepare and submit required reports, data, and documentation in accordance with Oregon Health Authority (OHA), REAP, and grant requirements.Provide regular progress updates to REAP leadership and the BYSPC team regarding coalition initiatives, project milestones, and emerging needs.Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and objectives of REAP and the Black Youth Suicide Prevention Coalition.Understanding of and commitment to customer service and REAP’s core values.Core CompetenciesAbility to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards.Maintains professionalism and a positive service attitude at all times.Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.Empathy, patience, and genuine commitment to improving the mental health of clients.Ability to work with highly sensitive information in a confidential manner.Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.Value working in a multicultural environment.Demonstrates integrity and strong values through consistent action.Teamwork – demonstrates positive attitude and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires with empathy.Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.Proactive, reliable, and consistent. This position requires the ability tooccasionally lift files, office products, and supplies, up to 25 pounds and open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position; business hours are Monday through Friday. Longer hours, evenings, and weekends work asnecessary.TravelOccasional travel is anticipated unless deemed necessary for trainings or other company needs.Education/RequirementsQualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA) or equivalent experience working within the mental health field.A minimum of four (4) years of experience facilitating youth led programming.Flexible schedule to attend planning and event meetings.Traditional Health Worker credentials are preferred.
