Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and ad hoc financial reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Support the month-end close process, including account reconciliations, cash activity review, and preparation and posting of journal entries.
• Perform monthly budget-to-actual variance analysis and investigate significant discrepancies in collaboration with department leaders.
• Evaluate accounting processes and procedures, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
• Develop, maintain, and update accounting policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Provide accounting guidance to management, ensuring the proper treatment and recording of financial transactions.
• Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors during annual and interim audits.
• Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as requested by accounting leadership.
• Assist with tax compliance activities, including gathering supporting documentation and preparing sales tax filings as assigned.
• Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and related reporting.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including transaction review, research, adjustments, invoice processing, and payment execution.
• Partner with operational teams to resolve discrepancies and support account activity.
• Record and reconcile accruals, prepaid expenses, payroll-related entries, employee benefits, and other recurring transactions.
• Prepare and reconcile health insurance, vacation accruals, 401(k), and other employee benefit-related accounts.
• Process and reconcile corporate credit card transactions.
• Support annual compliance requirements, including 1099 filings, business licenses, and annual reporting obligations.
• Maintain accurate vendor and customer master data within the ERP system.
• Prepare monthly bank and cash reconciliations and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP, company policies, and internal control requirements.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required.

Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the consumer goods, retail, or wholesale industries.

Strong financial reporting and account analysis experience.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience working with enterprise-level ERP/accounting systems required.

Microsoft Business Central and/or Microsoft GP experience preferred.

Data analytics experience or related certifications are a plus.
