We are looking for an experienced Director of Finance and Accounting to lead the financial strategy and accounting operations for a hotel property in Vail, Colorado. This role partners closely with executive leadership to strengthen profitability, support sound decision-making, and maintain a disciplined control environment. The ideal candidate brings strong hospitality finance expertise, a data-driven mindset, and the ability to translate complex financial results into clear business recommendations.

Responsibilities:

• Direct the preparation of annual operating and budget plans, using financial analysis and business projections to support revenue growth and cost management.

• Evaluate performance by comparing actual results with forecasts, identifying variances, and recommending corrective actions that improve efficiency and profitability.

• Provide financial insight to property leadership by interpreting market trends, operating results, labor costs, and departmental performance metrics.

• Establish and maintain effective accounting controls and risk management practices that protect assets and support compliance across the property.

• Lead forecasting activities and deliver timely financial outlooks that help operations respond quickly to changing business conditions.

• Manage audit readiness and oversee internal, external, and regulatory review processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.

• Guide and develop the finance and accounting team through clear accountability, performance feedback, and consistent leadership.

• Partner with the General Manager, executive committee, and ownership group to communicate financial priorities, cash flow considerations, and strategic recommendations.

• Monitor taxes, profit and loss reporting, and required financial submissions to ensure complete, accurate, and timely reporting.

• Facilitate financial review discussions with department leaders to uncover savings opportunities, improve productivity, and support achievement of business goals.

• Proven experience leading accounting or finance functions in a hotel or hospitality environment.

• Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and month-end close processes.

• Experience preparing financial reports and supporting financial statement audits.

• Knowledge of internal controls, cash flow management, tax oversight, and regulatory compliance practices.

• CPA credential preferred or strong equivalent accounting leadership background.

• Proficiency with BlackLine and other financial systems used for reconciliation and reporting.

• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to executives, ownership groups, and operational leaders.

• Demonstrated leadership skills with experience coaching teams and driving accountability.
