Job Summary The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Tutor I. Tutor varied levels of STEM classes, to include Chemistry and some levels of Math, offered by the University. Assist students and faculty with all services provided by the Tutoring Center. This position will be for the closing shift with evening hours in the Tutoring Center. Must be willing to work flexible hours. Responsibilities Tutor varied levels of STEM classes, to include Chemistry and some levels of Math, offered by the University. Supervise and evaluate part-time staff and student workers and monitor activities in Tutoring Center. Assist with the general operation of the Tutoring Center and provide general information to students, employees, and the general public. Check in/out, maintain, and barcode reserve materials, such as books and calculators for students. Demonstrate the use of calculators, both graphing and non-graphing, and any software used in the STEM courses. Assist in compiling end-of-semester statistical reports and data needed for the Annual Report. Compile, update, and post tutors¿ schedules, including schedule changes as they occur. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency with Microsoft software and graphing calculators. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in STEM-related field (Chemistry preferred, Physics, Biology). One year of experience in tutoring, supplemental instruction, other academic success services, and/or teaching experience.
