26-27 Middle School Special Services Teacher Starting Date: Immediately Job Overview Libertas Academy Charter School is a high‑expectation, high‑achieving charter school preparing all sixth through twelfth grade students for college and community engagement. The Special Services Teacher reports to the Dean of Special Services and is responsible for rigorous, standards‑aligned instruction, specialized support, and compliance with federal and state special education regulations. Duties and Responsibilities Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations for students. Reinforce school‑wide rules and expectations. Deliver engaging instruction aligned to math standards, plan and execute daily lessons that drive mastery. Develop and administer formal and informal assessments to measure growth and refine instruction. Provide targeted support, scaffolds, and extensions for diverse learners, including multilingual learners and students with IEPs. Identify academically at‑risk students and implement effective intervention strategies. Maintain legal, accurate, and confidential student records; collect data on behavior and academic performance. Design, write, and manage IEPs, including goal setting and progress tracking. Deliver specialized academic instruction in small groups or one‑on‑one, adapt general education curriculum for students with disabilities. Maintain and enrich subject‑matter expertise; set ambitious content and academic goals. Monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments. Create a structured, joyful, inclusive classroom environment grounded in high expectations. Equip students with critical thinking, analytical writing, and evidence‑based reasoning skills foundational for college‑level learning. Collaborate closely with fellow teachers and staff, participate in professional development, and build strong relationships with students, staff, and families. Prepare all students for the annual MCAS exam and participate in the Teacher Evaluation Process. Supervise daily tasks such as IPP, grading, SFMs, data prework, planning prework, and unit unpacking; perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Desired Skills Bachelor’s Degree required. Valid Massachusetts Teaching License in Special Education or Moderate Disabilities, or completion of Communications & Literacy, Foundations of Reading, and Content MTEL within one year. Obtained Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement within one year. Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Libertas Academy. Strong subject‑matter expertise in math. Demonstrated persistence, drive, and sense of urgency to inspire others. Success working with students in traditionally underserved communities. Belief that all students can succeed. Critical thinker and problem‑solver. Collaborative team player; willingness to engage in frequent dialogue and remain self‑reflective. Commitment to analyzing student data to advance achievement. Ability to differentiate for students with special needs and English learners. Effective classroom manager imposing a structured environment with high behavioral expectations. Spanish fluency highly desirable. Pass background check and CORI review. Salary & Benefits Annual salary range: $51,000 – $75,000. Contributes 11% of bi‑weekly salary to the Massachusetts Teacher Retirement System (MTRS). Other benefits are available upon request.
