About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: RN License Certifications: TNCC, ENPC or PALS, ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Compassion, urgency, and teamwork are extremely important for this position. Level II or Level III trauma experience required. Description: The unit consists of 16 beds with 8 hall chairs. Staffing includes 6-7 personnel per shift. During the day shift, the team typically consists of 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, and 4-5 nurses (including a mid-shift nurse), as well as 1 unit secretary and 1-2 techs. The night shift includes 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, and 4-5 nurses (one of whom is mid-shift), along with a unit secretary from 7 PM until midnight and 1 tech. Patient ratios are generally 1:4, with a focus on low acuity ESI levels of 4 and 5, although it may rise to 6. The equipment utilized by the staff includes cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and vital sign monitors, among others. The electronic medical record system employed is Meditech, with vital signs flowing directly into the chart. Typical procedures performed by staff include assessments, documentation, medication administration, wound care, splinting, intravenous therapy, urine collection, lab draws, and care for ESI levels 1 through 5. Scrub color is preferred to be royal blue. Team members are encouraged to incorporate team spirit by wearing seasonal jerseys on Sundays. Mandatory shift huddles occur at 7 AM and 7 PM unless providing critical care. EMTALA training is required for all staff. The unit has achieved recognition in patient satisfaction and employee engagement. Timely care is provided for stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and trauma patients. The facility is transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II trauma hospital. This opportunity provides an exciting environment with new equipment and technology.
