As a Mechanical Engineer, you join a team of buildings solutions experts working to solve our client's ever evolving project needs. This role is intended for engineers with 1 to 5 years of experience who are looking to continue developing their technical design skills while working closely with senior engineers and project managers. This opportunity will be located in our Chicago, IL office.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport plumbing and fire suppression design from concept through construction documents under the direction of senior engineers and project managersDevelop plumbing and fire suppression drawings, schedules, details, and BIM models using Revit and AutoCADPerform plumbing calculations, design plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, compressed air, and lab/medical gasesCoordinate plumbing and fire suppression with architectural, structural, civil, HVAC, and electrical disciplinesReview design work for compliance with applicable building codes and industry standardsSupport preparation of permit drawings, specifications, narratives, calculations, and other technical documentationParticipate in interdisciplinary coordination meetings and help resolve routing, equipment, space planning, and constructability issuesConduct field surveys, document existing conditions, and support construction administration activities including RFIs, submittals, site observations, and punch listsUse Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud (Forma), and other collaboration tools to support design reviews and project coordinationSupport project managers and discipline leads with budgets, schedules, task planning, and quality control reviewsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline1 to 5 years of experience in plumbing systems designExperience with application of building codes and standardsWorking knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD for mechanical designFamiliarity with general mechanical engineering calculationsAbility to coordinate across disciplines and communicate technical information clearlyStrong organizational skills with the ability to support multiple projects and deadlinesPreferred QualificationsEIT/CPD certification preferred, or active path toward EIT/CPD certification and eventual PE licensureExperience with City of Chicago Department of Buildings permit documents and local Illinois authorities having jurisdictionExperience with HVAC design beyond basic coordination, including HVAC load calculations, equipment selections, ductwork sizing, hydronic piping sizing, ventilation calculations, and energy code supportExperience with COMcheck or other energy code compliance documentationExperience with mission critical, public sector, higher education, industrial, commercial, residential, or infrastructure-related building projectsField experience with existing condition surveys, installation reviews, troubleshooting, commissioning, or punch list activitiesBenefitsWe offer Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans401K, Paid Maternity Leave, Competitive PTOEmployee Assistance Program (EAP) and moreSponsorship and relocation are not available for this opportunity.
