Job Details

• Position: Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner – Cardiology / Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Location: Topeka, Kansas (66606)
• Healthcare Setting: Cardiothoracic surgery / cardiac unit
• Schedule: Two weeks per month availability preferred
• Duration: 13 weeks, with ongoing coverage needs
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $3,260 - $3,860
• Start Date: ASAP
• Patient Volume: Approximately 2–10 patient encounters per shift
• Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 1 day
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS required
• Travel & Lodging: Assistance with planning is available for qualified candidates

Job Requirements

• Active Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant licensure, as applicable
• At least 1 year of relevant cardiovascular , cardiothoracic surgery , or advanced practice experience
• Demonstrated skill and independence in vein harvesting
• Ability to work confidently in a high-acuity surgical environment
• ACLS and BLS certification required
• Familiarity with inpatient cardiac or cardiothoracic surgery workflows preferred
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced practice support for the cardiothoracic surgery service line
• Assist with vein harvesting using the Maquet Vasoview system
• Manage a patient load of approximately 2–10 encounters per shift
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and care teams to ensure seamless patient care
• Support ongoing coverage needs for the surgical program
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in an inpatient cardiovascular setting
