Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees day-to-day maintenance activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, helping ensure equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supervising skilled maintenance technicians while coordinating planned and emergency maintenance activities.

The role combines technical troubleshooting with team leadership, work prioritization, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise daily activities of maintenance technicians.
• Assign, schedule, and prioritize maintenance work based on production needs.
• Coordinate planned maintenance and emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
• Serve as a hands-on supervisor, assisting with troubleshooting and repairs when needed.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment issues.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and according to established procedures.
• Manage maintenance work orders, documentation, and follow-up.
• Assist with shutdowns, major maintenance activities, and equipment projects.
• Coordinate spare parts and inventory needs.
• Utilize CMMS/EAM systems to track maintenance activities and equipment history.
• Coach and provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance processes.
• Support equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning activities.
• Partner with operations and other departments to align maintenance priorities with production needs.

Essential Skills

• 57 years of industrial maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
• 12+ years of experience as a Maintenance Lead, Maintenance Supervisor, Foreman, or similar leadership role.
• Strong hands-on electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Mechanical maintenance and repair experience with production equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience supervising or directing maintenance technicians.
• Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause problem-solving skills.
• Experience with maintenance planning, scheduling, and work-order management.
• Experience using CMMS, EAM, or similar maintenance management software.
• Ability to prioritize emergency repairs while managing planned maintenance activities.
• Strong commitment to industrial safety.

• Experience within a high-volume or heavy manufacturing environment.
• Equipment installation, commissioning, or startup experience.
• Experience supporting planned shutdowns and major maintenance projects.
• Background working with complex industrial equipment.
• Experience improving preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability.
• Strong leadership and team-development skills.
• Experience working closely with production, engineering, and operations teams.

Work Environment

This position is based within an industrial manufacturing facility and requires regular presence on the production floor. The role involves hands-on interaction with production equipment and electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

The Maintenance Supervisor will split time between leading the maintenance team, coordinating work, troubleshooting equipment, and completing administrative responsibilities. Some flexibility outside normal working hours may be required depending on production and maintenance needs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saranac, MI.

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $43.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saranac, MI.
