Department: Washington College of Law Time Type: Part time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Description: Summary: The American University Washington College of Law Office ofAcademic Excellence (OAE) is seeking a Administrative Assistant forthe Fall 2026 semester. Applicants should be graduate students atAmerican University (not WCL students.) OAE empowers law students to make informed decisions that impacttheir academic goals and bar exam preparedness. Through workshops,programming, and individual counseling, OAE offers resources andguidance in building academic and time management skills, courseplanning, and navigating the pathway to bar exam licensure forthose students seeking a license to practice law. The Staff Assistant will be the first point of contact for studentswho visit the OAE office for an appointment or drop-inquestion. Essential Functions: Answering basic email inquiries and directing more in-depthquestions to the appropriate advisor or other WCL office. Assisting with logistics and promotion of office events. Organizing and maintaining student appointment data. Updating information on websites and WCL platforms (Canvas,LibGuides). Creating and updating office handouts and flyers. Keeping the OAE office organized. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Part-time. 20 hours per week. Salary Range: $18.40 per hour. Additional Eligibility Qualifications: OAE uses various software platforms including Canva, Canvas,Microsoft Bookings, Office 365/OneDrive, EMS, LibGuides, andQualtrics. The Staff Assistant will work for 20 hours per week during thefall 2026 semester in the OAE office at AUWCL (Tenley Campus). TheStaff Assistant will work in-person on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, andThursdays.
