CNC Machinist/Tool Room Technician-1st shift

We’re looking for an experienced CNC Machinist / Tool Room Technician at our Plymouth, MN location who enjoys building high-quality tooling, solving problems on the fly, and helping others grow. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production-ready tooling, supporting manufacturing, and improving processes across the Tool Room. Compensation Starting Pay: $22.00 – $30.25 per hour (based on experience) Work Schedule Full-time onsite role based in Plymouth, MN. First shift-7:00 am-3:00 pm; Monday-Friday Why Placon – You’ll Love It Here Hands‑on leadership role where your expertise truly matters Opportunities to train others and influence processes Work with modern CNC and tooling equipment Competitive pay and strong benefits package Rotating schedule that supports work–life balance Growth‑focused, team‑oriented manufacturing culture What You’ll Do Build, repair, modify, and maintain production tooling using CNC mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and hand tools Troubleshoot tooling, assemblies, and production issues to minimize downtime Read blueprints/drawings to assemble and construct tools accurately Operate support equipment such as: Proto machine, 3D printer, polishing equipment to name a few Perform preventive maintenance on tooling and maintain logs/documentation Store, retrieve, and track tooling according to production schedules Support and train Tool Room Technicians and CNC Operators along with new hires Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment Collaborate with the team to improve tooling systems and workflows What You Bring High School Diploma or equivalent Experience with CNC machining and machine shop equipment Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills Ability to use hand tools, gauges, and inspection equipment 1–2 years of experience in Tooling, assembly, or mechanical repair Machine shop or manufacturing environment Familiarity with machine shop equipment and hand tools Ability to read, write, and communicate in English Preferred Skills CNC Operator experience Experience with tooling/mold storage systems Mechanical aptitude and strong organization skills Leadership mindset and ability to train others Physical & Work Environment Requirements Ability to stand and work on your feet for 8-hour shifts Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally Work performed in a tool room and manufacturing environment Placon employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, basic physical, background check, educational verification, and reference checks (as applicable).
