Job Description ABM Industries is seeking a Test Technician II to join our Electrical Power Services team. This position performs inspection, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and commissioning activities on electrical power distribution equipment in commercial, industrial, utility, and mission-critical environments.
The Test Technician II is expected to perform routine testing and maintenance activities with limited supervision while supporting project execution, safety compliance, documentation, and customer service objectives. NETA certification is not required; however, candidates should possess the technical knowledge, field experience, and testing capabilities consistent with an intermediate-level electrical testing technician.
This position provides a career path toward advanced testing, commissioning, and certification opportunities.
Pay: $50.00-$65.00 per hour The pay listed is the salary range for this position. Any specific offer will vary based on the successful applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.

- Perform acceptance, maintenance, and troubleshooting testing of electrical power distribution equipment.
- Inspect, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and document work on:
- Low- and medium-voltage switchgear
- Circuit breakers
- Protective relays
- Power and distribution transformers
- Motor control centers
- Automatic transfer switches
- Power cables
- Batteries and battery systems
- Grounding systems
- Metering and control equipment
- Execute electrical tests in accordance with company procedures, manufacturer recommendations, and applicable industry standards.
- Set up, operate, and maintain electrical test equipment safely and accurately.
- Analyze test results and identify abnormal conditions requiring corrective action.
- Troubleshoot electrical equipment and systems to identify operational deficiencies.
- Complete Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), arc-flash reviews, and pre-job safety planning activities.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout, and customer-specific safety requirements.
- Prepare field reports, test documentation, and equipment records with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Communicate findings, recommendations, and project status to supervisors, project managers, and customers.
- Support emergency response, outage work, after-hours work, and scheduled shutdowns as required.
- Mentor and assist entry-level technicians and field assistants.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in electrical testing, field service, commissioning, industrial maintenance, electrical construction, utility operations, military electrical systems, or related power systems work.
- Working knowledge of electrical theory, AC/DC systems, and power distribution equipment.
- Experience performing testing, inspection, troubleshooting, or maintenance on electrical power equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret:

- Equipment manuals
- Technical specifications
- Knowledge of electrical safe work practices, including:
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- OSHA requirements
- NFPA 70E
- Arc-flash and shock protection principles
- Experience using electrical test instruments and diagnostic equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and electronic reporting systems.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to travel up to 60% based on project requirements.
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Power Systems, Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
- Previous experience with electrical testing organizations, utilities, data centers, industrial facilities, or electrical contractors.
- Familiarity with:
- NETA ATS and MTS standards
- IEEE testing standards
- ANSI standards
- NEC requirements
- Prior commissioning experience.
- Military electrical maintenance or power generation experience.
- OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, CPR/First Aid, or similar safety certifications.
- NETA certification or progress toward certification.
- Ability to perform routine electrical testing activities independently.
- Ability to evaluate test results and recognize abnormal operating conditions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple project assignments.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work directly with customers in a professional manner.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to work in industrial facilities, substations, electrical rooms, construction sites, and outdoor environments.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including arc-flash and electrical safety equipment.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and emergency callouts when required.
