Job Title: Assembly Technician – Air Outlets
Job Description

This role works on the production floor in a small, collaborative department assembling metal air outlets, vents, and air cleaners used in office and production facility ceilings. The primary focus is on mechanical assembly using hand and power tools, supported by blueprint and schematic reading, with cross-training in multiple warehouse areas to provide flexible support where needed.

Responsibilities

• Assemble metal air outlets, vents, and air cleaners according to blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
• Use hand and power tools to install and secure additional parts onto air outlets for final assembly.
• Operate drill presses, punch presses, and riveting machines to support the assembly process.
• Measure and verify components using a tape measure to ensure accurate fit and alignment.
• Identify parts requiring repair and provide them to welders for fixing as needed.
• Follow detailed drawings and basic technical documents to complete assemblies correctly and efficiently.
• Inspect assembled products for quality, accuracy, and completeness, maintaining a strong attention to detail.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
• Rotate through and support several different areas of the warehouse after training, stepping in to assist where needed.
• Collaborate with a small team on the production floor, communicating effectively to meet daily production goals.

• At least 1 year of assembly experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately and understand basic technical drawings.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with mechanical components.
• Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for mechanical assembly.
• Ability to operate basic production equipment such as drill presses, punch presses, and riveting machines.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure quality and accuracy in all assemblies.
• Capability to perform general labor tasks in a production and warehouse environment.

• Experience in mechanical assembly, including metal components.
• Familiarity with electrical or electrical assembly is beneficial but not required.
• Comfort reading and working from schematics in a production setting.
• Ability to work effectively in small teams and contribute to a growing department.
• Willingness to be cross-trained in multiple warehouse and production areas.

You will join a smaller, close-knit team that fosters a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere in a clean warehouse environment. The schedule offers a four-day core workweek from Monday through Thursday, providing extended weekends and a healthy work-life balance, with optional additional hours available on Fridays. Weekend work is rare, allowing for more personal time while still offering the opportunity to earn extra hours when desired.

Work Environment

The role is based on the production floor in a nice, clean warehouse environment with a small-team setting that is expanding over the next year. Work takes place in a non–climate-controlled facility, so conditions may vary with the seasons. This is not an assembly line environment; instead, you work in smaller teams with a focus on individual assemblies. The position involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, drill presses, punch presses, and riveting machines while assembling metal air outlets and related components. The standard shift runs from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday, with additional optional hours on Fridays from 6:00 AM to either 11:00 AM or 2:30 PM, depending on workload and needs.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of KANSAS CITY, MO.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
