Objective

Engineering Manager plans, directs, and coordinates product and manufacturing engineering activities within an engineering project. They need to possess a unique set of skills that combine technical expertise with people management skills.

Essential Functions

• Research and develop designs and products.
• Determine the need for training and talent development.
• Hire contractors and build teams.
• Ensure products have the support of upper management.
• Provide clear and concise instructions to engineering teams.
• Lead research and development projects that produce modern designs, products, and processes.
• Check the team's work for accuracy.
• Coordinate work with other managers and staff.

Preferred Skills

• Print and specification reading and interpretation and creation using AutoCAD Inventor.
• Strong Mechanical aptitude; Process Improvement mindset, Analyzing Information.
• Verbal Communication; Informing Others, Continual Improvement, Mindfulness, and Thoroughness. Dealing with Complexity; Statistics, Lean workplace, General knowledge of manufacturing and Machining practices.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering Technology preferred. Relevant job experience in lieu of Engineering Degree acceptable.
• 3+ years in product engineering with management experience, automotive/fastener experience preferred.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to sit and talk or hear, walk, and climb stairs. Also, the employee must be able to stand, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands, arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.

The Engineer Manager will frequently spend time on the manufacturing floor as well as in the office. While on the manufacturing floor, the employee must wear eye and hearing protection. It is highly recommended to wear safety-toed-shoes while around manufacturing equipment.
