This position is based primarily in Worcester (3 days per week) with regular presence at our sibling school—Old Sturbridge Academy—in Sturbridge (2 days per week). Our school is a growing charter public school that opened in August 2023 and is rapidly expanding. As an Expeditionary Learning Education school, we aim to deliver hands‑on, project‑based learning that supports student growth in knowledge, character, and high‑quality work. The Speech‑Language Pathologist plays a critical role in ensuring that all students, including those with speech and language needs, have full access to this learning environment. What You'll Do The role includes the following responsibilities across both school communities. Evaluation and Assessment Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations for students referred for initial evaluations and re‑evaluations. Administer, score, and interpret standardized and non‑standardized assessment tools to identify students’ speech and language needs across areas including articulation, language processing, fluency, voice, and social communication. Write clear, thorough, and legally compliant evaluation reports that inform IEP development and educational planning. Participate in eligibility determination meetings, presenting evaluation findings to families and teams with clarity and cultural sensitivity. Conduct screenings to identify students who may need further evaluation. IEP Development and Service Delivery Develop individualized, measurable IEP goals that reflect each student’s strengths, needs, and educational context. Provide direct speech and language services to students across both schools, in individual and small group settings. Implement and monitor IEPs with fidelity, adjusting services and goals based on ongoing data and student progress. Participate in and contribute to IEP meetings at both schools. Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential records and documentation in compliance with state and federal requirements. SLPA Supervision Provide clinical supervision to the SLPA at Worcester Cultural Academy and the SLPA at Old Sturbridge Academy. Design treatment plans and session activities for SLPAs to implement, ensuring consistency and fidelity across both sites. Review SLPA session data regularly and use it to inform ongoing planning and adjustments. Provide regular feedback, coaching, and professional support to both SLPAs. Maintain supervision documentation in compliance with Massachusetts licensure requirements. Collaboration and Consultation Serve as a resource and partner to special education teachers, classroom teachers, and instructional aides on speech and language development. Collaborate with the BCBA, social worker, and special education team to ensure coordinated, student‑centered support. Support the carry‑over of communication strategies across both school environments by building staff capacity and knowledge. Participate in student support team meetings and other collaborative planning processes at both schools. Family and Community Engagement Build authentic, trusting relationships with families across the full range of linguistic and cultural communities represented at both schools. Communicate proactively and compassionately with families about their child’s speech and language development, evaluation results, and IEP progress. Provide guidance to families on how to support communication goals at home, offering culturally and linguistically responsive strategies. Use interpretation and translation support as needed to ensure every family is fully informed and included. What You Bring Candidates should meet the following requirements. Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program. Massachusetts licensure as a Speech‑Language Pathologist (or eligibility for licensure). Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP) from ASHA or clinical fellowship eligibility. Experience conducting comprehensive speech and language evaluations in a school setting. Strong IEP writing skills and knowledge of IDEA and Massachusetts special education regulations. Experience providing direct speech and language services to children across a range of ages, needs, and proficiency levels. Experience supervising or mentoring SLPAs or clinical fellows preferred. Ability to manage a split‑site role effectively, balancing relationships, caseload, and responsibilities across two school communities. Experience working with English Language Learners and students with IEPs in diverse school settings. Bilingual proficiency strongly preferred; Spanish or Portuguese candidates especially encouraged. Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, teachers, and clinical colleagues. Salary commensurate with experience; $75,000–$98,000.
