Wayfair is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to organize and drive the technology initiatives that support our Global Storefront Customer Experiences across all our brands.

In this role, you will manage the full lifecycle of a massive, complex, cross-functional program which requires anticipating (and de-risking) bottlenecks, managing escalations, making smart (data informed) tradeoff decisions, and balancing the customer and business needs within our technical constraints. You will serve as the single-threaded owner for a multi-system Business Initiative, defining and leading a cohesive Technical Program Strategy across multiple platforms, systems, and atomic teams. As a technology program owner, you're accountable for both the technology strategy's development and its execution — including defining measurable delivery milestones, success metrics, and operational mechanisms that ensure outcomes are achieved at scale.

They will be able to implement and improve repeatable program frameworks leveraging methodologies like scaled agile or hybrid frameworks that make multiple teams come together to deliver the value. They will operate autonomously in ambiguous environments, proactively identifying technical dependencies across microservices, APIs, data systems, and platform boundaries — and resolving them before they impact delivery.

What You'll Do:

• Drive the creation of scalable, cross-cutting, technical solutions from concept to delivery with your cross-functional technology partners; you'll be able to zoom into the weeds of a solution or back out to the SVP+ level to communicate constraints and outcomes. Define and continuously iterate a Technical Program Strategy that aligns engineering execution with clearly defined Business Initiative outcomes and STO objectives.
• Create plans that have measurable success criteria and clearly communicate progress, risks and outcomes. Establish delivery metrics, operating rhythms, and governance mechanisms that track progress against defined business and technical outcomes.
• Identify tactical fixes and strategic solutions across Engineering teams throughout the Customer Technology organization, determining optimal prioritization by anticipating risks before they arise. Proactively map cross-platform technical dependencies (e.g., GraphQL, microservices, data schemas, APIs, infrastructure components) and mitigate feasibility, scalability, and integration risks early in discovery.
• Create roadmaps and identify system changes that have well defined milestones, measurable success criteria, and clearly communicate progress to senior leadership. Partner deeply in Problem and Solution Discovery to ensure value, usability, technical feasibility, and business viability risks are all explicitly identified and mitigated prior to scaled execution.
• Simplify complexity for the team, drive smart tradeoff decisions, and deliver incremental value.
• Force multiply the efforts of many teams to deliver impact by removing bottlenecks before they become roadblocks, optimizing working models, and instrumenting repeatable processes. Break large architectural initiatives into smaller, incrementally deliverable components that optimize end-to-end flow across pods and platforms.
• Own the prevention of traditional failures: bad understanding of the customer/business problem, weak collaboration, interdependencies not being mapped, weak technical solutioning (debt), gaps in testing, or unclear success measurement. Hold delivery partners accountable to commitments and adjust timelines or scope when technical risks or business conditions change — clearly articulating rationale and trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Communicate and secure buy-in with senior leadership, across all technology functions including Engineering, Product, and Science organizations. You will effectively paint with context and drive adoption of program plans. Translate complex systems architecture, technical constraints, and dependency trade-offs into digestible executive-level narratives tailored to diverse audiences (Engineering, Commercial, Operations, Enterprise).

We Are a Match Because You Have:

• 6-10 years of experience in software engineering, software product management, software development management, or technical program management.
• A BS in computer science or a related technical discipline or MBA with focus on tech and engineering management
• A track-record of delivering complicated software solutions (products, systems, features) in an scaled agile environment.
• Experience driving technology transformation, with demonstrated knowledge of microservices architecture.
• Demonstrated experience influencing architecture decisions leading to improved API consistency, discoverability, reuse and improved integration patterns across teams and domains.
• Advocate for availability, quality, performance, scalability, visibility, and automation.
• Technical fluency with React, Java, GraphQL, Kafka technologies
• Excellent communication skills; facilitates technology decisions with senior business and engineering leaders in complex or ambiguous situations
• An entrepreneurial mindset, with a bias for customer focused innovation.
• Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated experience turning data into actionable insights.
