Instructional Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION Assist teachers in the classroom Provide academic assistance to students, particularly with special education students Supervise students Assist in the facilitation of learning School/Community Relations Maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees outside the school Handle sensitive and confidential information, documents, communications, incidents, etc., with discretion and in a conscientious manner. Cooperate and share professionally with other members of the staff. Promote high academic/achievement for all children Promote a great focus on teaching and learning Promote flexibility to stimulate local initiatives coupled with responsibility for student performance **MAY PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED** JOB REQUIREMENTS Assist in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the Special Education Teachers, Classroom Teachers and Principal. Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up and/or facilitating interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies for students Work individually or in small groups with students to review classroom instruction, read or help organize with students, or assist in answering questions Supervise students Help with general housekeeping tasks Assist the teacher in any other appropriate ways Build positive relationships with students to foster learning Be adaptable to potential daily changes with a role on a daily basis.
