Respiratory Therapist RRT PRN Peds NICU

Overview Introduction: This PRN position requires a minimum of 2 night shifts per week. We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist RRT PRN for the NICU in the Peds department at Medical City Dallas. Job Summary and Qualifications It is the responsibility of the staff respiratory therapist to demonstrate proficiency in all modalities of respiratory care with additional competency in NICU and pediatric patient care. The therapist will be responsible for execution of assignments in compliance with hospital and respiratory policies. May work with respiratory students in the clinical care setting. Responsibilities Assess respiratory status by performing focused exams, interpreting breath sounds and airway patency, and determining the need for respiratory interventions. Deliver evidence-based therapy by providing oxygen support, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, and other treatments across emergency, critical care, and acute settings. Manage ventilation and airways by assisting with artificial airway placement, initiating and adjusting invasive and noninvasive ventilation, monitoring patient responses, and responding quickly to clinical changes or emergencies. Educate patients and families, partner with physicians and nurses, serve as a clinical resource, and assist in stabilizing newborns during deliveries when needed. Maintain equipment and safety by setting up, operating, and cleaning respiratory equipment; ensure readiness and preventive maintenance; transport ventilated patients safely; and adhere to infection-prevention standards. Qualifications Graduated from an accredited school for Respiratory Care, recognized by the NBRC. One year of experience in Respiratory Care with documented NICU and/or Pediatrics training required. CRT, RRT by NBRC upon hire. Licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider required. PALS required within 30 days of hire. NRP required within 90 days of hire. ACLS preferred (facility-based requirements).
