Position Overview

The P&C Designer III is a senior‑level role requiring a minimum of 8 years of electrical system design experience , including electrical substations. This position provides technical and administrative supervision, coordinates drafting activities with minimal oversight, and contributes to the development of high‑quality protection and control (P&C) design packages.

This role is ideal for a designer who excels in producing detailed schematics, guiding drafting teams, adapting standard designs, and ensuring high‑quality deliverables across complex electrical infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply advanced P&C design principles and techniques to assigned tasks.
• Provide guidance, direction, and oversight to drafting personnel.
• Develop three‑line diagrams and detailed AC/DC schematic diagrams , including current circuits, potential circuits, protective relaying, control systems, and alarm systems.
• Produce point‑to‑point wiring diagrams , terminal block layouts, and equipment wiring diagrams.
• Calculate, quantify, specify, and verify material quality.
• Adapt standard designs to meet project‑specific requirements.
• Apply common industry practices and design standards.
• Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Report progress and issues to the team supervisor.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Two‑year associate degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 8 years of electrical system design experience.
• Electrical substation experience required
• Ability to respond to ad hoc tasks and shifting priorities.
• Basic understanding of power system protection and control systems .
• Strong mechanical design capabilities.
• Ability to apply standard design practices and evaluate constructability.
• Understanding of field concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation ; knowledge of both is a plus.
• Knowledge of industry‑standard drafting practices.
